CLA is looking to hire a Lead Payroll Specialist, to organize and direct the operations and activities of our Payroll Specialists. This position will oversee and audit the preparation, processing and maintenance of regular, special and supplemental payrolls to assure employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner. Primary Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Input, verify and transmit payroll data for the firm. Process requests for payroll deductions, bonus payments and other miscellaneous payroll related entries upon request. Prepare check or direct deposit requests outside of the regular schedule payroll when needed. Responsible for gathering information to be included in the processing of the semi-monthly/bi-weekly/monthly payrolls. Provides consultation in answering payroll related questions for employees, human resource department, management, and principals of the firm. Responsible for approving payroll related items in Workday. Responsible for processing family member leave payments and answer questions regarding pay. Complete mortgage and SUI Verifications, if requested. Monitor compliance with federal and state laws. Employee File Maintenace : Lead verification of new hire information prior to payroll approval. Ensure employee information such as address changes, state and local taxes are approved in in Workday in a timely manner. Provide consultation for escalated Workday questions and access issues. Respond to urgent or complex employee questions in the CLA Payroll mailbox. Write up information regarding new hires, terminations, salary changes, department changes, or any other pertinent payroll information to be keyed in Workday. Input of payroll information into Workday. Complete special projects as needed. Supervision: Advise Payroll Specialists regarding payroll issues. Handle escalation of complex payroll matters. Assume general administrative responsibility and guidance for all payroll personnel, data management services, and programs within Payroll. Job Requirements: Experience: 5 years of relevant experience. Education : Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field). A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. Certifications/Licenses : None required. PHR, SPHR or CPP is preferred. Technical Competencies: Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office products, including MS Excel (or other spreadsheet experience), and payroll software is necessary.
