We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Quality Technician to join our team.
The Lead Quality Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products through rigorous testing, inspection, and adherence to established standards and procedures.
This individual will lead a team of quality technicians and collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and management to maintain and improve product quality and food safety.
Responsibilities: Supervise and mentor a team of quality technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and efficient execution of quality control procedures.
Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Perform various quality tests, including but not limited to physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations, utilizing appropriate equipment and methodologies.
Identify and investigate deviations from quality standards, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address quality issues and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing product quality, food safety and efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of quality testing results, inspection findings, and corrective actions taken, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing support and facilitating corrective actions to address audit findings.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and management, to ensure alignment on quality objectives and priorities.
Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to food safety and quality assurance, incorporating new knowledge into quality management systems as appropriate.
Serve as the primary liaison for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) activities, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of HACCP plans.
Must be certified as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of our food safety plan in compliance with FSMA regulations.
Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of food safety principles, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP).
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and develop a team.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with quality management software systems is desirable.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross functionally and influence positive change.
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues.
Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as needed to support production schedules and quality initiatives.
