Job Description:*** Hybrid Remote - Must be within 60-mile radius of Placerville, CA ***POSITION SUMMARY The Lead Scheduler oversees, monitors and performs all functions related to the pre-admission of In/Out Patients of Marshall Medical Center (MMC) and the scheduling of all Diagnostic Imaging exams and procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Provides input towards establishing unit policies and input to the Department Director for audits and reimbursement issues. Performs employee evaluations, coaches and counsels employees and assists in the disciplinary process in a professional manner and as needed. Maintains an overview of payer trends, assessing and reacting to industry and program changes in order to meet compliance regulations and ensure hospital reimbursement. Represents the Scheduling Unit in meetings, on committees and in correspondence with federal and commercial agencies.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required.Knowledge: Knowledge of Coordination of Benefits, IPA's, HMO, PPO, Authorizations including Medi-Cal TAR's, Medi-Cal eligibility, Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notices, and Medicare Secondary Payer screening required.Basic Medical Terminology required, or course completion within first year.Three years of registration and/or billing experience and one year of Medical Imaging scheduling preferred.Knowledge of computerized scheduling programs preferred.Knowledge of how health care facilities and providers function and the differences in urgency levels of patient acuity preferred.Previous experience in a leadership, resource or supervisory role highly preferred.Skills: Superior customer service and public relations skills required.Ability to promote and maintain an effective climate fostering teamwork.Excellent written, oral and listening skills when working with patients, clinic staff, co-workers and payers is required.Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office Products.Demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility.Ability to make independent decisions in the absence of immediate, direct supervision that stay within hospital and department guidelines.Willingness to assist co-workers during peak workloads and short staffing periods and work as a team player required.Ability to provide a calming influence when assisting customers and a sincere desire to serve the public in an empathetic manner is desirable.Typing of 30+ CWPM preferred.
