Position OverviewQinetiQ Inc. is seeking a Lead Senior Systems Engineer to support the integration of existing and new technologies aimed at providing a fully integrated airborne solution with primary radio detection and ranging (RADAR) and Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) payloads across a robust command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) platform.
This position will be part of our Global Surveillance portfolio and directly support both US Government and Allied customers.
ResponsibilitiesYour Contribution to the Mission: Project Leadership:Serve as the lead role in planning, organization and integration of multiple assignments involving diverse groups and personnel.
Provide lead technical responsibility for large complex projects or complete systems.Lead integrated product teams composed of other cross functional professional employees in the execution of engineering functions.
Will act as team leader for appropriate tasks.Requirements DevelopmentResponsible for the design, development and implementation of engineering processes, methods and products.Develop product design descriptions, requirements and system test documentation, safety analysis reports, and technical analyses against requirements.Support a system reliability program; gathering and analyzing reliability data and risk mitigation for complex systems.Define and analyze technical requirements for a broad range of engineering tasks of increased complexity.Design DevelopmentDevelop engineering designs, implement architecture configuration specifications, and enable modeling, activity diagrams and simulation use cases.Participate in design reviews and technical interchange meetings to assess and guide development activities performed by development contractors.Conduct and support internal and customer design reviews.Research state-of-the-art sensor technologies and sensor concepts/capabilities and provide technical advice to guide next generation use of those technologies.Lead the design and development of a system data architecture that can receive, process, and output data compatible with the following protocols:Structured Eurocontrol SuRveillance Information eXchange (ASTERIX).Air Command and Control System (ACCS) - wide common information exchange (AWCIES).National Maritime Electronics Association (NMEA) standards.MIL-STD-6040 (USMTF).Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP): Instant Messaging and Presence 2004.Standard North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) STANAG RADAR and ELINT data.Generate, modify and upgrade mathematical models to predict design performance.Use commercial and proprietary simulation tools in developing and evaluating designs.Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to meet design requirements.Quality ControlManage requirements verification and traceability throughout design, development and testing phases.Develop requirements flow down, verification methodologies, calibration plans, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and test plans to ensure program success.Perform technical review and assessment of concepts, systems, technologies, designs, architectures, interfaces, and operation of ISR systems.Support production, testing and field operations in improving designs.Conduct testing, develop prototypes and verify/validate system and component performance to specifications.Project DocumentationLead in the preparation of major complex written documentation to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, technical manuals, disclosures and scientific discoveries.Support the preparation of major complex written documentation to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, technical manuals, disclosures and scientific discoveries.Create briefings and reports including technical and programmatic assessments presenting analysis, results, conclusions, and recommendations; brief senior staff and customer as requested.Required QualificationsRequired Skills: Bachelor's Degree in a Systems and/or Electrical Engineering discipline with minimum of 10 years relevant systems engineering experience; or Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant systems engineering experience.Broad understanding of DoD airborne and ground systems, hardware, software, operations, and their interdependence.Engineering experience supporting radar or communications integrations for air or ground-based systems.Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Be able to apply scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results.Ability to apply innovative approaches to designing, integrating, testing, and producing complex engineering sensor systems.System modeling & simulation and/or system performance analysis.Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.Job Type: Full TimeMinimum Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: DOD Top SecretPreferred QualificationsPreferred Skills: Experience generating requirements using Model-Based Systems engineering and/or requirements management software Rational/DOORS/JAMA is a plus.Familiarity with tethered airborne systems and payloads.Experience with specific Systems engineering and integration applied to DoD airborne and ground systems.Experience with national security C5ISR programs.Company EEO StatementAccessibility/Accommodation: If because of a medical condition or disability you need a reasonable accommodation for any part of the employment process, please send an e-mail to ****** or call (540) 658-2720 Opt.
