**Sign-on bonus of $1,000.00** given to all new direct care employees. $500.00 after 90 days, $500.00 after 1 year Currently, we are seeking a Lead Teacher for our 4 year old classroom . A Lead Teacher at Evan's Child Development Center (ECDC) manages the classroom environment, education, indoor and outdoor play, nutrition, and rest, to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care. A Lead Teacher provides developmentally appropriate early education programing to promote growth and achievement of developmental milestones for each child. As a collaborative team, our staff provide a nurturing environment for children, working with parents and families to create a sense of community within our center. Duties & Responsibilities Adhere to ECDC's arrival and departure procedures to ensure the safety and security of every child while in your care. Provide visual supervision of the children in your care. Every child must always be in sight and no child should ever be without visual supervision. Direct the duties and activities of Assistant Teacher(s) and Floaters assigned to your classroom and train new staff in the daily practices of the classroom and center. Maintain an inviting and engaging classroom that is organized, clean, and sanitary, meeting all Health Dept., Fire Dept., OSHA, COA and NCDCDEE guidelines. Follow a daily routine that provides structure and predictability for the school day. Establish a classroom management style that encourages children to make good choices by setting positive classroom rules and expectations, providing natural and logical consequences, and anticipating and redirecting undesired behaviors before classroom disturbances occur. Promote the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of each child using the NC Foundations Creative Curriculum. Develop weekly lesson plans that provide fun and interactive learning experiences. Submit lesson plans to the Director for biweekly review. Prepare and have ready all materials needed to complete daily activities. Schedule and participate in outdoor activities and play to promote skill development, coordination, imagination, and physical fitness of children in care. Support the nutritional health of the children when serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks by encouraging them to try/eat the foods prepared. Model appropriate eating habits and table manners while sitting with the children during mealtimes. Communicate directly with parents to share developmental observations, set quarterly goals, share daily achievements, and address concerns using a team approach that supports the individual needs and successes of each child. Maintain up-to-date information in each child's classroom file, including accident and incident reports, behavioral concerns, documentation for assessments, positive achievements, etc. Report time-sensitive information/documentation promptly and professionally to the Director and parent or guardian for follow up. Communicate with children, parents/guardians, and staff in a positive and respectful manner. Any differences of opinion will be discussed in private, never in front of the children. Show professional discretion during discussions about children, families, or staff, and protect the confidentiality of others by not participating in such discussions outside of the center or in front of other parents, staff or children in care. Participate in planning and hosting special events and activities held at the center (Easter parade, Christmas program, Graduation, etc.) Attend and participate in staff development opportunities, training, and team building with the Director and fellow teachers. Attend agency fundraising events as requested. Review and practice all emergency procedures (fire drill, tornado plan) with the children monthly. Welcome and engage prospective parents and children in your classroom during the walk-through portion of center tours to support enrollment efforts. Supervise and participate in water play and pool time activities during the summer. Perform any other duties or assignments as requested by the Director or administration. Education & Training Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in ECE preferred. EDU 119 plus 6 additional credit hours in Early Childhood Education required . Qualifying Letter from NC Division of Child Development and Early Education required . CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to complete certification within the first 30 days of employment. Complete credit hours and annual training as required by NCDCDEE to maintain the center's 4 star rating.
