Leadership Opportunity: Executive Director, Northwest Choirs – Seattle, WashingtonNorthwest Choirs - home of the Northwest Boychoir and Vocalpoint Seattle - invites applications from entrepreneurial leaders passionate about music education to serve as its next Executive Director.
We are looking for a highly organized and collaborative leader who believes in our mission. Strong candidates will be excellent communicators, have direct or relatable non-profit management experience, have high standards, and have a vision for building on our legacy and increasing our sustainability.
The Executive Director will start approximately Spring/Summer 2025. The hiring range is $120,000-$150,000 and includes a full benefits package.
Considered one of the premier youth choral programs in the nation, Northwest Choirs provides world-class musical education and performance opportunities that serve as a platform for personal growth and development. Now in our 50th year, we have trained thousands of young singers, and more significantly, shaped the lives of our members by instilling important life lessons. We serve approximately 200 singers ages 5 to 18, from all corners of the Puget Sound region.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn partnership with the Board and Music Director, provide strong leadership to set the strategic and operational direction for NWC. Collaborate with the Music Director to bring the artistic vision to fruition. Play a leading role in long-range strategic planning and ongoing strategy development.Foster NWC's culture of excellence, collaboration, team-building, and respect. Serve as a role model for excellence, support and mentor NWC's staff, and build strong relationships with parents and NWC's community. In partnership with the Board and staff, advance NWC's diversity and inclusion goals.Direct, support, and mentor the Director of Operations for planning and facilitating concerts, tours, performances, and rehearsals.Collaborate with the Music Director to prospect and cultivate professional-level partnerships for student performance opportunities. Lead relationship development, contracting, and ongoing stewardship efforts. Track and evaluate impact and sustainability of engagements.Oversee the organization's marketing and fundraising efforts, assuming lead responsibility for organizational visibility and earned and contributed revenue including:Direct, support, and mentor the Marketing Manager to build earned revenue (from ticket sales, enrollment, and other activities) and leverage digital media to increase NWC's visibility.Serve as NWC's lead fundraiser, cultivating and stewarding existing donors and prospecting new ones. Develop and oversee fundraising campaigns; partner with the Board in these efforts.Represent NWC in the community and nationally in industry networks.Build productive relationships with board members that maximize their time and expertise. Track progress on operational and financial goals and report to the Board. Coordinate and attend all meetings.Serve as NWC's lead financial director, overseeing the budget, financial statements and reporting processes. Partner with the Board to ensure fiscal responsibility and maintain supporting policies.Organize the administrative team to efficiently and effectively implement processes across operations, marketing, fundraising and financial management functions. Provide oversight of all operations in accordance with NWC bylaws, policies, and employment laws.Attend evening and weekend meetings and events, including performances, Board meetings, fundraising events, and community programs that provide opportunities to engage NWC's constituents.Candidate QualificationsPREFERRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES 5+ years of non-profit management experience. While prior experience in fundraising, marketing, financial management, team leadership, and working with a Board is valued, candidates with experience in some, but not all, of these areas, and who bring relatable experience, are invited.Supportive approach to management.
