Department Information The Chinese Flagship Program offers undergraduate students from any major at UNG the unique opportunity to achieve professional-level proficiency in Mandarin. This is accomplished through a combination of classroom learning, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and overseas study and internship. The Lecturer and Tutoring Coordinator for the Chinese Flagship Program plays a pivotal role in the program¿s success, providing pedagogical expertise and supporting the Academic Director with academic activities.
Job Summary The University of North Georgia is seeking a full-time Lecturer and Tutoring Coordinator for the Chinese Flagship Program. This role offers a flexible starting date, with the expectation that the selected finalist will commence duties no later than August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching two to four courses per year offered by the Department of Modern Languages. Additionally, the position will oversee the development and management of the Chinese Flagship tutoring program, which involves recruiting, training, and supervising tutors, conducting individual and group tutoring sessions, and creating tutoring plans and materials. Organizing co-curricular and extracurricular activities on and off-campus to enrich the Flagship students language and cultural learning experience is also a key responsibility. The position will also provide limited administrative support in areas including program articulation, program promotion and recruitment. Required Qualifications Qualified candidates should hold a master's degree in Chinese pedagogy, linguistics, or related fields. A minimum of two years of experience teaching college-level Chinese courses. Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is required, along with familiarity with assessment and ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Training and teaching experience in Chinese pedagogy, in conjunction with previous administrative experience, are desirable.
