About the University:
California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. About the Program:
The School of Education at California State University Channel Islands works collaboratively with communities to prepare culturally sustaining educators who inspire learning and promote belonging, equity, accessibility, and justice. The Teacher Education Department houses teaching credentials and Masters of Arts in Education programs.

About the Position:
This position is responsible for supporting and evaluating student teachers in elementary, secondary, and/or special education PK-12 school environments.
Minimum Degree Requirements:
A Masters degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of recent and relevant teaching or supervision experience in culturally and linguistically diverse settings.
Appropriate academic preparation for specific course content related to the credential area including a preliminary credential in the area.
Record of high quality public school teaching or administration and commitment to student success.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in education or a related field.
Evidence of recent and relevant effective university supervision.

Responsibilities:

Regular observations of teacher candidates in school placements in Ventura County and adjacent areas as specified in the Student Teaching Handbook to meet CTC requirements and meets the classroom schedules.
Act as a liaison between teacher candidates, cooperating teachers, school administrators and CI.
Complete relevant paperwork and evaluations both in writing and in a digital format in a timely manner both independently and in collaboration with the cooperating teacher.
Assure that each teacher candidate assigned is clear about the requirements and responsibilities, as well as critical dates, for student teaching including the takeover of classroom takeover responsibilities.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
