College of Public Service? at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS)?invites applications to establish and maintain an ongoing pool of lecturer applications from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions for the Department of Criminal Justice will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. The lecturer will prepare and teach undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice. Assigned courses would include CJ major core courses and/or option area courses . Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. While all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, the department has a current need for lecturers with the following areas of expertise: Corrections Courts & Judicial Process Crime Mapping Criminal justice leadership Cybercrime Data Analysis Law enforcement What We Offer Salary Range: The pay rate is dependent on the number of courses taught for the College of Public Service (CPS): 1st & 2nd course taught for CPS = $3,250.00/course 3rd & 4th course taught for CPS = $3,450.00/course 5th course and beyond taught for CPS = $3,750.00/course This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Work Location: Determined by course modality (i.e., on campus if teaching an in-person course; remote if teaching an online course; or a combination of the two if teaching a hybrid course). Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Has obtained a master's degree and has at least 3-5 years of professional work experience in criminal justice or a related field. or; Has obtained a Juris Doctorate (JD) and has 3-5 years of professional work experience in criminal justice, legal, or related fields. or; Has obtained a PhD in criminal justice, Criminology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. or Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience, which may include teaching at postsecondary levels and/or leading professional training. Ability to teach in multiple formats (on-campus, online, hybrid). At least 5 years of applied work experience in the criminal justice system. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involved looking at a screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
