Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented lawyer to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.
This Legal Counsel will primarily support AWS's Data Center Operations team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), which is responsible for the operation, physical security, maintenance, and logistics of AWS data centers. The role involves working directly with business and other stakeholder teams to provide day-to-day counseling, contribute to projects, negotiate contracts, and address vendor issues. As counsel supporting a large international organization, this lawyer must be adept at synthesizing legal requirements across many jurisdictions and providing risk-calibrated solutions. The role requires strong drafting skills and an ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable guidance.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Minimum Requirements:Significant post-qualification legal experience gathered in-house or in private practice, with a minimum of 5+ years post qualification experience.Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills.Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, cloud computing services or equivalent.Experience with in-house work at a technology or internet company.Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams.
