The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk and Computer Labs uphold the highest standard of service to the Rutgers University community. The OIT Help Desk and Computer Labs are staffed with student consultants who perform a number of tasks both to assist users in person or via 833-OIT-HELP and email support. The Help Desk is charged with effectively resolving or referring computer-related problems, and ensuring the best possible service. We offer training opportunities to enhance our employees' technical knowledge. Job Expectations
Providing the University community with courteous phone and in-person support for computing-related issuesDesktop troubleshooting, both remote and in-person Printer maintenance such as changing toner cartridges and filling paper traysGathering hourly computer lab usage statisticsDiagnosing and reporting network issuesAssisting with a variety of team projectsEffectively handling new and unusual situationsParticipating in ongoing training to learn more about the systems and software What we're looking for:
Exemplary customer service and communication skillsExcellent troubleshooting and analytical skillsEnergetic and enthusiastic about working with technologies Basic knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office, various web browsers, and the Adobe suiteBasic knowledge of major operating systems such as Windows and Mac OSXWillingness to learn about new technologies Familiarity with networking hardware and UNIX knowledge are a plus
