The Library Director will play a crucial role in designing and developing the university's library from the ground up. This position entails comprehensive responsibility for the library's organization, administration, operation, and evaluation, including services, collections, facilities, personnel, and budget management.
\n Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement a modern library system with efficient administrative operations.Lead strategic planning and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Promote collaboration within the university and with external partners.Integrate the library into the academic and intellectual life of UATX.Leverage innovative technology and data management to enhance teaching and research.Represent and advocate for the library in local, regional, and national forums.Stay abreast of and respond to emerging trends in academic libraries and scholarly communication.Expand the library's resources through digital solutions and national network integrations.Support the core mission of UATX to advance the fearless pursuit of truth by building and sustaining a community based on the lively clash of ideas in an atmosphere of open inquiry and civil discourse. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.Extensive experience in managing academic knowledge resources, with a track record of increasing responsibility in library administration or closely related areas.Proven success in strategic planning, fiscal management, and adopting relevant technologies.Expertise in emerging technologies and data management within academic environments.Demonstrated commitment to creating a user-centered learning environment that supports the university's educational and research missions.Experience in diverse library services such as research assistance, instructional services, collection development (both physical and electronic), public services, technical services, special collections, and preservation.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications:A terminal degree in a discipline relevant to UATX's academic offerings.Experience in developing a new library system or significant transformation of an existing library.Faculty rank or the ability to obtain faculty status, engaging in curriculum development and multidisciplinary programs.
