LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (Dexter Health Center)Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Responsibilities*Provides direct and individualized nursing care to internal family medicine and dermatology patients and their families under the direction of a registered nurse.Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies.Observe patient status, report and document changes and nursing care given.Administer and document medications according to established standards.Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse.Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning, and improvement of patient care.Assist in quality assurance activities.Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas including prescription refills and durable medical equipment.Work at the maximum level of license, education, and scope of practice.Other duties as assigned which could include but not limited to wound care, suture staple removal, results reporting, blood pressure checks, injections, and specimen collection.Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality.Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing protocols and evidence-based interventions.Willingness to adapt to different populations (e.g., pediatrics, OB/GYN, adult medicine) as patient demands. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties within primary care based on expansion of division.Required Qualifications*Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary.
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.
