Licensed Practical Nurse- Residential Program

When a group of families came together in 1957 to find services for their children with developmental disabilities, ACLD was born.
Today, we are a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1200+ staff and providing over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk.
ACLD assists children, teens and adults in reaching the highest level of independence with the freedom to ASPIRE HIGHER in their hopes, dreams and accomplishments.

ACLD's Residential LPN is an integral part of the Residential Program's team which strives to provide opportunities for our adult group home residents with developmental disabilities to pursue enviable lives and increase their independence.
The LPN participates in the assessment and implementation of medical care for the individuals we serve.
He/she provides training of direct care staff in monitoring medical systems designed to ensure the highest quality of care.

The ideal candidate will have a current NYS LPN license; one year health services experience; and general knowledge of medications and their interactions.
Prior experience with tracheotomies and PEG tubes is a plus.
While prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred it is not required.

In this position, you will:

• Ensure medications are properly dispensed and documents recorded.

• Perform prescribed medical treatments i.e.
colostomy checks and changes.

• Assist Registered Nurses with medical emergencies and lunch preparation as necessary

• Review medical charts to ensure necessary medical document reports are current.
Complete needed documentation checklist to be sent home to families/residences for follow up.

• Assist with toileting people we supports as needed.

• Provide nursing coverage at other ACLD Day program sites as needed.

We require:

• AA Degree preferred.

• Certified and currently registered by the New York Department of Education as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

• Obtain and maintain CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification
