Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Line Cook to join our Blue Door Kitchen at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.
Our Blue Door Kitchen makes a profound impact on the youth we serve everyday by serving high quality, nutritious, hot meals from scratch.
As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for our youth.
You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards and meet the nutritional needs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Accountable for stocking and setting up the kitchen stations Accountable for food preparation including cleaning and cutting the ingredients Accountable for cooking and assembling dishes as indicated by recipes Accountable for ensuring food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at work station and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery Stocking inventory and supplies Accountable for all food costs and responsible to oversee daily production, waste and adherence to standard operating procedures for the hot and cold lines, Food Safety and Sanitation: Cook products to proper internal temperature Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards Food Packaging: Accountable for accurate orders and on time Accountable for packaging prepared foods based on senior chef's guidance Administrative Compliance: Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting.
Ensure accuracy of data and reporting.
Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs Accountable for accurate and timely collection and review of membership application Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes and controls Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively Facility & Child Safety: Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s) Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within required timeline Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by deadline Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience as a line cook or similar roles Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines Experience understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills Certified in Food Safety with the State of Texas or ability to pass Certification Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work regular branch and program hours Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed Excellent time management skills Effective organizational skills Must be dependable and punctual Must be able to obtain Food Handler certification Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time Must have satisfactory driving record, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties.
Preferred Qualifications: Formal culinary training or equivalent Bilingual Experience with USDA/TDA programs Experience with at risk youth and/or at risk populations preferred Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage Pay & Benefits: Minimum starting Pay: $17.00 per hour (non-exempt; full-time) Benefits: Medical Insurance, Flex Spending Account, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement with 5% match, Holiday, PTO and work/life balance.
