Linux Developer Experience Engineer
We'reseeking an Engineer to join our team responsible for architecting, engineering, and evolving our firm's Linux desktop environment. In this pivotal role,you'llcollaborate with developers, quantitative analysts, researchers, and front-office trading teams to deliver acutting-edgedevelopment platform that meets the complex needs of our high-performance organization.
The Linux Desktop Engineering teamis responsible forarchitecting, engineering, and enhancing the firm's Linux desktop environment. We collaborate closely with developers, quants, researchers, and the front-office trading teams to ensure our platform meets theirneeds andprovides abest-in-classdevelopment environment to work on complex problems.
This role involves both technicalexpertiseand product management skills.You willformrelationshipswith technologistsand developersacross the firm, discover novel use cases,engineerand integrate suitableproductenhancementsandthenhelppromotethe Linux desktop internally.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Demonstrated experiencewithLinuxsystems administrationin amulti-user / multi-server environmentleveragingcentral authentication.Ideally this would includeintegration with Microsoft Active Directoryas the primary authentication/authorization source.
Experience with Ansible forconfiguration management
Scripting skills inBash andPython
Strongknowledge of X11,Xorgserver, andDesktop Environments such as Gnome/KDEon Linux
Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker,Podman, Kubernetes) anddeveloper workflowsleveragingthese tools
Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, particularly Jenkins and Git
Qualifications/Skills Desired
Familiarity withHashicorpPackerfor image orchestrationand lifecycle management
Experience with security hardening a Linux operating system
Experience with PowerShell scripting,toassistin the Windows orchestration of the image build and integration
Understanding of network protocols and services (DNS, NTP/PTP,DHCP, PXE, etc.)
Understanding of monitoring and logging technologies, particularly Prometheus, Grafana dashboarding, and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
