Job Summary: Independence Excavating performs contract crushing as well as mining processing services for various types of aggregate. The Crusher Operator is responsible for the operation and necessary maintenance of assigned Heavy Equipment in carrying out tasks to process different aggregates.
Responsibilities:
The Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to operate and perform servicing and maintenance or refer issues to supervision as required.Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on machinery.Perform daily adjustments as directed to equipment settings to optimize performance and safe operation.Responsible for general and specific safety practices, following company safety procedures and complying with all necessary contractor and regulatory standards. Maintain strong communications with team to ensure efficient and safe workflow.Assist team with any repairs or maintenance activities. Complete all necessary daily paperwork including but not limited to regulatory compliance and pre-operation inspections. Listen for unusual noise or indications for potential issues. Perform all assigned and required training.Other duties as assigned. Equipment: Wheel Loader Excavator / Associated AttachmentsSkid SteerConcrete Crusher / ScreenersShovel and other Hand ToolsManlift / TelehandlerWater Truck Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.Minimum (2) two years Heavy Equipment experience required; (5) five years experience in Crushing/Mining or relative industry strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices is required.Mechanical troubleshooting experience preferred.Strong knowledge of product loading trailers, plants, transports scales is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a team.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.Adherence to Drug Free Workplace protocols.Must be willing to travel to other work sites. Working Conditions: Work is performed outdoors, in various weather conditions which can include extreme temperatures. Work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, commonly found in crushing operations. Employee regularly works around heavy equipment and/or moving machinery. At times employee may be exposed to uneven ground surfaces, vibration from machinery, dust, chemicals, and heights.
Physical Requirements: Physical demand is heavy, occasionally requiring ability to lift between 50-100lbs. While operating heavy equipment this position involves consistently sitting for extended periods. Frequently operator would be required to climb, balance, reach, bend and twist. Physical dexterity to use hand tools and operate equipment is required. Occasionally, operator would be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. To perform job satisfactorily, operator would need to speak, hear, and visually have satisfactory near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision and field vision.
