Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to coordinate the transportation function for one or more Rehrig entities.
The job includes understanding market rates, negotiation, tracking shipments, communicating with internal and external customers, local plant coordination for multiple customers, as well as working as an effective member of a National team.
Areas of Accountabilities Customer Focus Support Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to ensure customer satisfaction. Follow established processes for load tracking and proactive communication. Partner with reliable carriers that provide high levels of service and maintain market rates. Provide freight rates back to requestors in a timely manner. Conduct self professionally with internal and external customers. Available after hours to handle emergencies as they arise. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives for standard operating procedures, reporting tools and project initiatives.
Cost Reduction/Avoidance Demonstrates good judgment in routine, day-to-day decision making. Makes sound independent decisions in urgent and non-routine situations. Knows when to act independently and when to escalate issues to Leadership.
Collaboration with Internal Cross Functional Teams Open and proactive communication on the transportation market, to include weather disruptions, DOT week, produce season, etc Maintain accurate load time, freight weight, load notes, etc.

Drive Results & Situational Adaptability Ensure all partner carriers have an executed agreement on file, are registered with and have insurance compliance with our 3rd party partner. Facilitate regular carrier reviews to discuss service, rates, tracking capabilities, and communication. Negotiate rates to stay within market pricing. Provide accurate shipping information to carriers to keep accessorial costs down. Develop carriers or add new carriers, as needed.
Ability to adapt in real time to meet demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics or Business Administration preferred. 2 to 3 years of previous experience in the transportation industry. International logistics coordination experience is a plus. Knowledge of Microsoft Applications and preferred Oracle/JDE TMS knowledge.
