In all Rocketship schools we aim to build strong relationships with families and cultivate inclusive communities. Los Dichos is a multilingual and multicultural reading experience that bridges the home and school. The Los Dichos Lead Parent supports the program by connecting families with the program, preparing for onsite events, and ensuring that partnership hours are honored. This role also provides an opportunity for parent leadership on each campus. This position is for the current academic year. This role is roughly 16 hours a month. This position is contingent on term-limited supplemental funding and will be reassessed annually.
\n Essential FunctionsCommit to being at the school site two full school days per month. Facilitate or co-facilitate 4-8 Parent Trainings over the two day period that Los Dichos is running at the school site each month (majority half hour sessions). Material preparation. Prepare all Los Dichos materials prior to each reading (photocopies, cutting, sorting, and more) and reset the reading/activity materials in between each reading session.Data entry. Record and highlight the names of the volunteer readers into a tracker on the computer. Serve as a positive role model within the school community (abide by school policies, treat members of the school community with respect, answer questions about Los Dichos when asked). QualificationsStrongly preferred: Parent or family member of a current RocketeerPassion for working with children.Previous experience or training working with youth Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Education Flexibility and a willingness to learn At least High School diploma or equivalent.
