Job Summary:The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at our inpatient clinical research site is responsible for providing compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients participating in clinical research studies.
The LPN will work closely with the research team to support the implementation of clinical trials, ensuring adherence to study protocols while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with daily activities.
Research Support: Assist with the implementation of clinical research protocols, including patient screening, enrollment, and follow-up.
Collect and document data accurately according to study guidelines.
Clinical Procedures: Perform routine clinical procedures such as blood draws, ECGs, and other sample collections as required by the study protocol.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about study participation, procedures, and care plans.
Ensure patients understand and comply with study requirements.
Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including electronic medical records (EMR) and study-specific documentation.
Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and institutional guidelines, including GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and HIPAA regulations.
Assist with preparation for audits and inspections.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the research team, including physicians, nurses, and study coordinators, to ensure seamless patient care and study conduct.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing appropriate interventions and reporting as required.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education to enhance clinical skills and knowledge related to clinical research and patient care.
Qualifications: Education: Graduation from an accredited LPN or EMT program.
Licensure/Certification: Current and valid LPN or EMT license.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an inpatient or research setting.
Skills: Proficient in clinical procedures and patient care.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
