MERCY HOSPITAL ARDMORE Department: LPN Surgical Med/Surg Unit -  5th Floor Status: PRN PRN Schedule Expectations:  36 hours required per six-week schedule; 12 of the 36 hours on weekends One (1) summer and one (1) winter holiday   #BeAMercyNurse     Overview:   The Surgical/Med-Surg Unit is a 32-bed unit that houses an assortment of patients needing to recover after surgery. Colon resections, hip replacements, urological procedures, and appendectomies are just a few that you will see. We also have Med/Surg overflow so you will likely see pneumonia, COPD, and chest pain.   We have lots of skills that you will be able to develop while working on our unit. JP drains, wound vacs, NGT's, chest tubes are some of the things that you will encounter!   Typically, these patients are here for a short stay and then sent home. Nurses on the unit work 12-hour shifts. We are a fun, friendly, fast-paced unit! Qualifications: Education : Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Licensure : Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements Physical Requirements/Demands : Stand/Walk most of the time on duty; significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance; push/pull/grip up to 50 pounds Experience : Can be new or experienced LPN Certifications : Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
