SUMMARY: Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assists in the examination and treatment of patients, takes vital signs, records patient charges, records patient history, and assists in minor office procedures. Participates in patient education, communicates effectively with others, and functions within the scope of practice. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques.
HOURS: 8:30AM- 5:30PM PER DIEM
QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Vocational Nursing. Two years' experience preferred working as an LVN in a multi-specialty group setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Current California LVN License, Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association Certification and IV Certification required. Current ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Cooperates in the cross-training of this position to ensure coverage at all times for all offices.Interviews patients; measures vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; records information on the patient's chart.Prepares treatment room for examination of patients; assists physician with procedures; cleans examination room and sterilizes appropriate equipment after use.Explains procedures and treatments to patients and their family in order to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.Administers prescribed medication orally or by injection (subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal) and documents time, dosage, and route on the patient's chart. Observes patient and reports any adverse reactions.Administers treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests under the supervision of a Physician, Allied Health Professional, or an RN.Initiates intravenous lines, adds plain IV fluids to existing lines, and discontinues lines under the direction of the Physician or an Allied Health Professional (must be IV certified).Performs electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operates other equipment as certified.Travels between departments and facilities on an as-needed basis based on coverage requirements.
