Machine Operator II - Finishing
3rd shift S-F 10:30PM-7:00AM POSITION SUMMARY
Improves surface condition of rolled products by sanding and/or grinding.
Sets up and operates shears and leveling machines used in the production of tantalum and niobium products.
Assists as needed in the rolling mills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES Sands or grinds rolled materials to remove surface imperfections and meet product specifications including but not limited to Class 1 requirementsSets up and operates leveling equipmentSets up and operates shears to ensure final product meets the required dimensional specsAssists as needed in the handling of material at the rolling mills under the direction of the Rolling Mill OperatorRequires mechanical aptitudeFollows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements and follows environmental policiesMust be able to understand specifications and use measuring instruments with assistanceRequires ability to recognize problems and seek assistance to resolvePerform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS High School of Vocational School Diploma and/or GED required.0-2 years of experience related production experience in a manufacturing environment.Basic math skills are required to perform necessary job functions.An understanding of basic measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers).Good communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with some machining experience is a plus.May require the use of fork trucks, overhead cranes, hand carts and hand tools.
Must be capable of obtaining a fork truck license and/or overhead crane license and must obtain a lockout/tagout certification. PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires direct contact on the manufacturing floor and requires ambulation Work time is spent in a factory environment where temperatures fluctuate
