Job Summary Reporting to the Value Stream Director, the Value Stream Product Manager provides leadership and management of a multi-function team of employees for the safety, quality, delivery, inventory, productivity (Gross Margin) and production cost performance results of a multi-cell/multi-shift manufacturing operation. The Value Stream Product Manager leads operational excellence across the production function within the value stream with a keen focus on waste elimination, speed enhancements with the purposeful intent of consistently meeting or exceeding customer requirements. This position has responsibility for all production supervisory roles and for equipping these Supervisors with the skills necessary to effectively execute against all predetermine production objectives (SQDIP). This role serves as the accountability role model where favorable performance is adequately reinforced and performance management practices deployed when required. The Value Stream Production Manager position is a results driven position where all activities are aligned with the Value Stream "Plan-to-Win" strategy and the overarching requirement to protect the Chesterton Brand by ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role has mentoring and professional development responsibilities for all production based value stream employees.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.
Responsibilities:  Sets production center goals and objectives that align with Value Stream "Plan-to-Win" annual strategy. Develops and implements SQDIP metrics with supporting Leading Metrics to ensure real-time adjusts are deployed to address risks impacting performance results. Creates and maintains a work environment where employee safety and health are prioritized. Drives end-to-end manufacturing results within the Planning, Quality and Engineering functions embedded in the Value Stream. Partners with other Value Stream Production Managers to define a clear cadence of accountability and to ensure there are effective interactions to institutionalize best practices. Develops and leads high performing teams to achieve production targets. Establishes clear lines of performance accountability. Manages production operation expenses and budgets for the production center, including COGs and indirect manufacturing expenses and capital expenses. Optimizes productivity and inventory to achieve DSL, Gross Margin and Inventory Management targets (Cycle Count Accuracy & Turns). Implements effective and actionable Daily Management routines utilizing SQDIP metrics to meet performance objectives and drive continuous improvement. Utilizes leading metrics to proactively identify problems and opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions and solutions. Develops and implements processes and procedures to continuously improve in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Implements effective and sustainable 5S practices. Consistently works with a focused attention on elimination of waste in the production process to enhance speed to the customer. Establishes, deploys and maintains accountability to standard work instructions and control. Drives expansion of VKS to capture, standardize and optimize standard work. Drives employees training and adherence to standards. Develops next level of leads and supervisors for assigned areas. Responsible for the work defined in the NPI process to prepare the operations to drive successful new product launch processes. Ensures compliance with Chesterton Quality System and supporting ISO 9001:2015 Quality standards, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental standards and Company policies and procedures. Complexity of Duties: Assignments are received in objective oriented terms. Provides guidance to subordinate supervisors based on organizational and divisional goals and Company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizational/divisional objectives and/or schedules. Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors. Acts as a coach to subordinate supervisors and/or staff members to help meet established schedules and resolve technical/operational problems. Sets performance standards and manages employee performance. Contacts are frequent with equivalent level inter-organizational managers and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Moderate noise (i.e.: computer printers, traffic) exists daily in the work environment. Exposure to fumes and high levels of heat and noise while on the factory floor.
