The Maintenance Assistant will assist with the performance and maintenance of large production machinery.
Position will be performing preventative machine maintenance 80% of the time.
Duties/Responsibilities: Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
General mechanical repairs to equipment, as well as the primary source for Preventative Maintenance.
Plays an active role in 6s, Continuous Improvement and warehouse reorganization efforts.
Ability to read electrical schematics, as well as basic electrical tasks Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts and prepares reports documenting work performed.
Orders and installs replacement parts for machines and repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
Collaborates with plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with maintenance manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate a forklift and/or scissor lift.
Welding Fabrication experience is a plus Works well independently and with others and has good communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Education and Experience: Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
Must have a Strong Mechanical background and have general electrical knowledge.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and walking.
Weekend work may be required Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
Must be able to visually inspect machines.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
