The Maintenance Technician works aboard an at-sea processing vessel in the Bering Sea and off the coast of Washington and Oregon. They work under the Maintenance Tech Lead, Chief Engineer, First Engineer, and Factory Supervisor to conduct repairs, fabrication and maintenance in the factory and other parts of the ship.
\n ResponsibilitiesPossess sound mechanical knowledge and experience, preferably from fishing vessels or similar processing equipment.Familiarization with factory equipment and systems, ability to recognize normal operation of all equipment.Install, maintain and repair vessel and factory equipment including pumps, motors, belts, and conveyors, bearings, hydraulics, control valves, and filtration units.Modify, fabricate and repair factory equipment.Maintain adequate and accurate inventory of necessary parts and supplies.Troubleshoot problems with equipment onboard the vessel and assesses to determine most effective and efficient means of repair.Utilize tig, mig and arc welding skills to modify, fabricate and repair equipment as directed.Understand and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.Must be available to work both at sea and in the shipyard periods. Requirements2+ years experience in a Maintenance Technician role on board a fishing vessel preferred.Knowledge of hydraulics, welding stainless with Tig and stick equipment.Experience building and repairing factory equipment.Experience managing inventory, purchasing and managing a budget. Crew paid a share of the catch each fishing trip worked. Trips average between 13-22 days.
