Position Details
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance and repair work on District buildings an equipment; assist journey-level trades personnel.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Maintenance Worker II incumbents are assigned to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties independently and assist journey-level trades personnel.
Maintenance Worker I incumbents are assigned routine maintenance duties and perform work under direct supervision.
Essential Functions - Typical Duties
Install, repair and thread gas and water pipes; perform emergency repairs and adjustments to plumbing equipment including replacing broken pipes, cleaning plugged drains, draining pipes, replacing washers, replacing faucets, replacing floats, soldering spouts and gutters, replacing sprinkler heads, replacing radiator valves, cleaning grease traps, flushing sewer lines; perform semiskilled welding.
Perform electrical fixture installations; oil, adjust and repair cafeteria equipment.
Perform.
semi-skilled painting applying pre-mixed paints to walls, ceilings, fences and other surfaces; perform touch-up painting; erect, rig or move scaffolding and platforms.
Perform a variety of general maintenance duties; repair and finish roofs, bleachers, fences and playground equipment; cut and install window glass; oil, adjust and repair athletic equipment.
Drive light trucks to deliver equipment and supplies.
Assist carpenters in refinishing floors, furniture, cabinets and other wood items; assist in making and installing cabinets and shelves; mix cement.
Assist in the installation, repair and change of locks and in changing lock combinations; repair lockers.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of related maintenance experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Class C driver's license.
