Experience of fundraising with Schools of Health Professions, Nursing or Social Work is a plus.
Must possess strong written, oral and presentation communication skills, and have experience in developing clear and concise major gift proposals; Must have a proven track record of cultivating and securing five-figure gifts and above, as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies; Individual must be able to think strategically and creatively, possess excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments; Attention to detail and strong project management skills; Ability to work as part of a team; Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Raisers Edge or similar database system.
Position requires occasional travel and occasional attendance at Institutional Advancement and Hunter College events in the evenings and at weekends.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Hunter College is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as a Major Gift Officer (MGO).
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the selected candidate will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and securing major individual gifts to Hunter College as part of the Institutional Advancement team.

The MGO will serve as a visible frontline fundraiser and manage a portfolio of approx.
125 individuals who have the capacity to give $50,000 or more.
The Officer will develop major gift strategies and be responsible for the preparation of gift proposals, supporting the stewardship of donors and development of foundation relationships.
The MGO must be able to enthusiastically and accurately represent Hunter College to a variety of constituents including board members, major donors, prospects and other friends of Hunter.

Position responsibilities will include, but, are not limited to:
Act as primary manager for a portfolio of approx.
125 donors and prospects moving potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, maintaining a balance between discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; Identify, cultivate and play lead role in soliciting and closing major gifts of $50,000 and up, primarily from individual donors and college alumni; Regularly conduct validation meetings with donors, alumni, and prospects who have not been previously visited to determine their giving potential and opportunities for engagement; Recommend and implement short, intermediate and long-term individual major gifts cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual prospects (e.g.
current donors, alumni, parents, trustees etc.
); Identify and engage new prospects for purposes of meeting Institutional Advancement fundraising goals; Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve individual performance measures (e.g.
meetings, proposals, major gift revenue); Track and report relationship management activity using Raisers Edge including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, proposal submission and stewardship of prospective and current individual major donors; Assist with review and verification of major gift donor recognition lists; Actively participate in the life of the team, learning and growing with colleagues.
Plan and implement events and activities for individual major gift donors, using existing activities as appropriate; engage in networking activities or other opportunities to generate potential prospects for cultivation; Cultivate and expand planned giving opportunities with new and existing donors, and integrate planned gift objectives into major individual donor requests in collaboration with colleagues across Institutional Advancement.
FLSA Exempt
COMPENSATION and benefits Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Range for the position is $125,000 - $150,000.
