The Manager of Academic Enrichment and Student Success provides leadership and operational management for the academic enrichment and student success initiatives as part of Institutional Effectiveness (IE). Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, the role is vital in ensuring student success through high quality academic skills training, tutoring, and support services. The Manager of Academic Enrichment and Student Success fosters a supportive learning environment for students and faculty and promotes academic excellence by providing high quality academic skill trainings and services to Capella students at all degree levels. Our headquarters is locating in Minneapolis, MN. For applicants who are in the area, you may be required to be onsite 1-2 days a week or for specific functions. Essential Responsibilities: Develop appropriate strategies to align the portfolios and outcomes with university strategic goals and divisional objectives Promote the value of the various services provided by the Academic Enrichment and Student Success teams and improved student outcomes Proactively raise awareness of the risk areas at each degree level and share professional judgment and suggestions to the leader of Institutional Effectiveness Provide data-driven insights and consultative assistance to senior leaders and academic stakeholders in identifying, selecting and prioritizing high risk degree-level issues for interventions Influence, advocate, and participate in the development of interventions to mitigate risks to student continuation and completion Participate in developing and revising academic policy, implementing best practices, and providing faculty guidance on how to promote students' academic skills and ensuring the academic integrity and standards Supervise and develop professional staff of this function Intentionally create an inclusive teamwork culture and encourage knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving among the reporting units and project teams Assess, evaluate, and improve quality of academic skills and student success services Oversee the development of new writing and research skills training and services that effectively support students to move up their skills from the basic, intermediate, to the advanced level Facilitate the collaboration with academic leadership team, faculty and staff to enhance students' writing skills at each degree level and reinforce ethical research practices Consult with academic leaders as needed on the development of new or restaged academic offerings with particular emphasis on the academic skills and student success initiatives, including writing and research skills curriculum. Provide leadership for cocurricular experiences Cocurricular Leadership Committee and other work groups as assigned Assist with and support as needed for other university initiatives related to degree program quality and student success Job Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with faculty, students, staff, and stakeholders. Knowledge of writing and research standards Experience with program development and process improvement and using data to make critical decisions Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong computer and technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications; comfort learning new technologies. Experience: Minimum 5 years related experience in an educational setting, preferably in higher education. Experience in teaching, assessment of student learning, data-driven decision-making, and at-risk student intervention Minimum 3 years of experience managing and supervising staff. Education: Master's degree in education, higher education, English composition, writing, mathematics, statistics, data analysis, or a related discipline required; doctoral degree preferred. All degrees must be conferred from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Other: Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro.
