As part of the Financial Reporting Quality Assurance (FRQA)Organization within Corporate Controllership, this roleis responsibleforenabling and promoting financial integrity across American Express's systems for the Finance organization.
Global Financial Initiatives and Integrity (GFII) teamplays a critical role supporting Business and Finance driven initiatives by ensuring the ongoing integrity of the Company's accounting and financial reporting (as required by AEMP 16, American Express's internal management policy thatdefines a consistent standard for control and financial reporting requirements that must beestablishedduring any technologychange).GFIIteamis organized under the following key pillars:Global Loyalty & Benefits, Network, & Banking;Global AR, Merchant, & Enterprise Transformation; andStrategy & GFII Program Management Office (PMO).
Thisrole,Manager,GFIIwillberesponsibleforleading multiple project initiativeswhich will include assessing impacts, providinganalysis, creating robust project plans,definingFinance requirements, developinguser stories, andadvisingsystem controlstobe in place to ensure financial integrity of accounting and reporting.
The GFIIManageris highly collaborative, detail oriented, withstrongleadership, communication, and relationship building skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance to AEMP 16 and all other relevant AXP and Financepolicies
Lead and develop Financial System Analyst(s) and create an inclusive culture that understands other's viewpoints and empowers colleague
Lead and driveFinance's accounting and reporting requirements in the Company'stechnologymodernization andbusiness initiatives
Understand end-to-end Finance processes and products and partner with Business,Technology, and Finance teams to drive prioritization and delivery of Finance requirements that enable transformation of Finance processes through increased automation
Definerequirements forapplicationcontrolsto ensureaccurate, complete, andtimelyfinancial reporting
Defineaccounting requirements in consultation with Segment and Market Controllership
Develop testing strategyand test cases.Conduct user acceptance testing,produce test results, and prioritize defects and enhancements require for initiatives
Partner with Finance process owner to provide post implementation support
Execute strong project governance through effective change management, delivery of regular status updates to stakeholders and leaders, and proactive identification and communication of project and operational risks to leadership and key partners toremediate
Supportautomation of core GFII processes
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's orMaster's Degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information System
Experience in defining system development requirements and designing and deploying Finance solutions.
Experienced in Agile delivery concepts or other project management methodologies.
Strong fin-tech skills with ability to define system requirements, and design and implement Financesystems
Knowledge of testing approaches and application of controls in a technology environment
Demonstrated critical thinking, complexproblem solvingskills, and transformation mindset
Ability to convert strategic vision into clear project outcomes including skills to analyzehighly complexprocesses, data volume and translate into projectsteps
Strong data analytics and system controls skills with ability to understand how these impact accounting and financial reportingprocesses
Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and strategically influence in a matrixedorganization
Strongrelationship building and conflict resolution skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Being self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to manage time effectively.
Positive attitude anddemonstratedstrength as a quicklearner
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of US GAAP requirements and financial control principles and practices
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
