JOB SUMMARY
Provides design guidance and management for all design related projects throughout UPR. Manage Universal Graphic Design team, outside consultants, and coordinate requirements of all in-house divisions through successful completion of project.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages design staff and outside design firms.
Consults with requesting department and gathers information pertaining to the development of the project for consistency. Collaborates with internal divisions to maintain Universal's design intent of ongoing quality control design solutions. Integrate and coordinate all aspects of design intent achieve the highest quality product and guest experience within parameters given.
Performs concept design theme development and presentation materials as needed through Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, Quark Express, and 3D generating design software.
Develops graphics and sign packages for new attractions, as well as for the ongoing needs of all park departments through formal graphics package.
Interdepartmental and fabrication coordination on all design needs and packages working with cross disciplines.
Responsible for material and color specifications of all signs, graphics, details, etc.
Maintains quality control of existing park signage and graphics.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Must be highly creative with a keen eye for graphic design. Have working knowledge of typography and computer design software. Have extensive knowledge of sign fabrication techniques and materials. Have drafting, rendering and presentation skills. Issue status reports to clients. Must be proficient in graphic software including PhotoShop; Corel Drawing; and Illustrator. Required to be familiar with industry color standards and limitations. Responsible for managing teams of creative project personnel such as writers, artists, directors, scenic designers, media producers, programmers, graphic designers, etc. Non-routine; general policies applied to frequently changing situations. Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact.
EDUCATION
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is required. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Graphic Design is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
5+ years field experience in design and management of Environmental Graphic Design is required. Themed environmental design is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient on all Adobe Software packages: Illustrator, Photoshop, In-Design; Quark Express; Typestyler; Microsoft office: Power Point, Word, Excel; and 3D software.
