Job DescriptionSummary The Manager, Key Account Proposals reports to Director, Proposal Services and provides effective management of a team of proposal managers focused on strategic responses to our most complex proposals in the self-insured and MCO market segments as well as the proposal process in an effort to develop new business and retain current clients. Formulates proposal strategies aligned with market position and overall business strategy, oversees a team of proposal consultants, and ensures timely and accurate response to RFPs of high complexity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee strategic planning and management of the proposal development process for key accounts in the self-insured and MCO market segments. Interface with senior management and sales team members to determine bid/no bid recommendations.Work with strategic relations directors and sales team to determine and communicate proposal strategies to proposal consultants, as applicable. Oversee proposal reviews and maintain overall responsibility for content of all final deliverables required to complete a proposal response.Educate proposal team on writing, editing, researching, and coordinate with proposal database/content team to ensure updates make their way into the proposal library.Work with senior staff to forecast staffing, scheduling, and budget needs. Research and analyze historical data to support proposal efforts.Create customized proposals that relay our differentiators and are tailored to the client's requirements.Assist with less complex proposals, when required.Support client renewal proposal activity when necessary.Collaborate with Marketing for packaging and graphic design requirements.Provide day-to-day management of department, including administering department policies, business processes, and quality standards. May develop departmental policies and procedures as required. Provide input for departmental budget and monitor compliance.Supervisory Responsibilities Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; develop goals and objectives, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; mentoring, training, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Client Responsibilities This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to manage difficult or emotional client situations; respond promptly to client needs; solicit client feedback to improve service; respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; meet commitments to clients.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university. Degree in Marketing, Business, English, Journalism or Communications preferred; and 5 or more years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; A minimum of three (3) years of previous experience managing and/or supervising staff. Supervisory experience may be substituted with four (4) years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned Director or above leader that must be completed within 12 months after beginning new position. Extensive writing experience in a sales proposal environment. In depth knowledge of pharmacy benefits management or managed care environment experience.
Computer Skills Advanced proficiency in MS Office / Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Visio, Access. Knowledge of proposal automation software (Ombud, Loopio, etc.) preferred.
