Manager of Development - Museum of the Cherokee People, Cherokee, NCTotal Salary Range: $40,000 – $60,000
Hiring Range: $40,000 – $52,000

Purpose/RoleThe essential goals and role of the Manager of Development are to: 
Provide structure to MotCP's Development arm including but not limited to fundraising, donor development, membership, etc. Donor/member/sponsor identification and development. Engages, recruits, trains and manages relationships with volunteers and customers to successfully execute fundraising plans and achieve revenue goals. Models and fosters behavior that establishes a culture that values the staff/volunteer partnership and is consistent with the mission vison values of MotCP. Responsibilities/TasksAssist Executive Director in creating written processes for donor and member development. Manage donor software, including generating, tracking, and maintaining data and reports. Monitors financial expenditures and measures budget to meet top and bottom-line goals ensuring a high return on investment. Managing task lists, calendars, and action items. Identifying prospective funders. Event planning and coordination. Ongoing donor development and communication. Manages Development related work groups, task forces, and committees. Actively solicit and engage past, current, and potential sponsors/members/donors of MotCP. Assists in the development of creating and writing grant proposals, narratives, and final reports. 
Skills/Knowledge/QualitiesA bachelor's degree is required. 5 years of related work experience in member/donor cultivation and quantifiable success in fundraising is required. Experience with donor management software preferred. Ability to work independently in a detail-oriented manner. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. A demonstrated commitment to preserve and protect the history, culture, and stories of the Cherokees.OtherReports directly to the Director of Finance but works closely with the entire Executive Team. Other administrative duties may be assigned as needed by the Executive Director. Most responsibilities of this position can be performed remotely.
