Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $72,000.00 Annually
Position Purpose and Summary Provides a safe and secure campus environment consistent with the community's expectations and legal requirements.
Key Areas of Accountability Campus Security Provides leadership concerning campus security. Remain up to date on matters related to campus security and safety.Supervise security staff in meeting department goals; conduct probationary and annual performance reviews of all guards as well as overseeing the recruitment of new guards.Provide information that will promote the personal safety of campus visitors, students, and employees.Oversee access control systems, surveillance equipment, and security technology.Respond to all security concerns, recommending and implementing changes to security procedures and practices in conjunction with the Associate Vice President.Lead in providing security awareness education and information to the campus community as a whole.Create and manage the Security and Parking budget.Parking Supervise the security and parking enforcement of the campus. Work closely with the Parking Coordinator on all parking issues including issuing of permits and enforcement.Provide excellent leadership and vision for Security & Parking services. Work with the Associate Vice President of Campus Operations (AVP) to ensure that parking needs of faculty, staff, and students are met and that adequate parking is available for all users.Bullying and Harassment Program Closely interact with the Student Life department in observing and communicating student incidents/activities; assist the Student Life professional staff to fulfill the mandate of providing a safe and personal growth-oriented atmosphere for students.Carry out the duties of a contact person for the TWU Bullying, Harassment, and Sexualized Violence protocol, including investigations and compiling reports for the Senior Harassment officer.Emergency Planning Lead in the development, coordination, and implementation of Emergency Planning protocols and drills, as well as assist in the training of community members. Responsible for chairing the Campus Situation Assessment Team in the event of an emergency.Other Responsibilities Coordinate all designated campus contacts with all related authorities called to or visiting campus, including but not limited to RCMP, Fire, Ambulance, etc.Ensure fiscal stewardship in compliance with established university policies.Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with counterparts from other universities as well as the local RCMP.Participation in meeting Occupational Health and Safety requirements.The Person Skills and Abilities Proven superior relational skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills, perceptive and empathetic listener.Strong project management capability and administrative skills.Strong computer skills.Skilled in the use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.Clear, concise thinker and researcher with an ability to formulate conclusions and recommendations from many sources of information.Proven ability to facilitate groups, creatively problem-solve, coach others, initiate change, and effectively implement plans of action.Proven ability to manage workload in a busy and challenging environment.Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build open communication and trust.Personal Driven and inspired by the idea of positively impacting the various marketplaces of life through the development of godly Christian leaders by serving the Trinity Western University community.

Key Internal Interactions Reports: Security team and Parking Coordinator
Reports to: Associate Vice President, Campus Operations
Standards & Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree required. 2-year diploma with formal industry recognition in Security and Operational Health & Safety will be considered in lieu of post-secondary training.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of directly related security/police experience. Level III First Aid preferred.
