Manager of Software Engineering - Fully Remote Location Remote in United States Minor Outlying Islands : Ensure all development work completed has high quality, and adheres to secure coding standards and engineering best practices Drive advancement toward automation, process improvement, and increased development team productivity Ensure architecture diagrams and other technical documentation is created for new solutions and features Work regularly with direct employee reports to develop their skills and plan for their career growth Recruit and hiring to fill open positions with high quality candidates Ensure development team members are engaged and communicative with the team in standups, refinements, and other team meetings Work with product team stakeholders to ensure that portfolio applications are appropriate, are solving the needs of the business, and are well maintained Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including ops and product team members and other development teams Be a subject matter expert for the business functions that all portfolio applications serve Identify and plan remediation for vulnerabilities and technical debt for portfolio solutions This position is responsible for understanding our business and IT strategy and ensures that we have the skills and capabilities required to deliver on our business and technical commitments. They will also focus on Continuous improvement within the area and lead IT initiatives and special projects within their portfolio of applications. Develops guidelines for other software engineers that helps them build and implement code that is scalable, stable and secure. Acts as a hands-on software engineer who can write quality code, assist with problem solving, root cause analysis, trouble shooting and coaching. Understands big picture from a business standpoint within the context of the application. Writes technical blogs and be active in Open Source Community. Agile, DevOPS and Cloud: Applies Design Thinking techniques on application design. Leads agile software development efforts as a Technical Leader. Coaches other software engineers on practices such as TDD, ATDD and pair programming. Understands advanced concepts of Containers, Micro-Services, Continuous Delivery and Continuous integration, and guide the team to setup a DevOps environment for the applications they build and support. Designs and develops highly scalable applications in AWS cloud using tools like Cloud Formation Templates, EC2, SWF, ELB, Lambda, S3, RDS/Dynamo DB and others. Reviews and takes actions based on application metrics, including but not limited to code quality, business metrics and performance metrics.
