Become part of the Strategic Development Programs (SDP) leadership team which is part of the Engineering and Sciences organization within the Mission Systems sector. The functional manager may have the opportunity to support direct program technical work up to 25%.
The preferred work locations are Los Angeles, CA or San Diego, CA. For the right candidate, this semi-remote position can be located near any large Northrop Grumman work location with travel to company sites potentially required up to 25% of the time.
The selected manager will:
Provide functional, rotational, and development guidance to high potential, early to mid-career engineers and scientists participating in our development programs and partner with internal customers to support enterprise objectives.Lead strategic technical talent development for program participants to achieve the following:Accelerate technical skills development through broadened technical and professional experiences which includes integration of digital transformation practices.Strengthen leadership skills to help prepare participants for technical leadership roles.Gain multi-sector exposure and development in Critical Skill Areas.Serve as an effective collaborator, communicator, and problem solver who can develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including close coordination with program management, functional management, human resources, and other organizations.Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging the traditional ways of doing business in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Drive strategy to accelerate talent targeted for key enterprise roles.Navigate between multiple systems and tools desired to assist employees in their shorter-term development needs while ensuring the longer-term enterprise objectives are met.Participate in management activities to support the candidate selection process, performance planning and appraisals, and professional development of staff. Will also be required to integrate input from internal departments and program leadership as well as from across the enterprise to develop rotational assignments and opportunities for the participants.Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.U.S Citizenship is required.An active DoD Secret Clearance.Prior functional management experience. Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills including team building and navigation, personal and career development, technical and inter-personal problem resolution, work planning, allocation, and mentoring.Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.Collaborate on early adoption techniques and strategy for new methodologies in the enterprise, such as Agile techniques, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, DevOps, Digital Transformation, and Model Based Everything.Continuation of and/or coaching in your professional domain, including leveraging your professional network and specialty.Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.US Citizen and active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance.Prior experience in Systems Engineering, Integration and Test activities related to the development and delivery of subsystems or systems.Proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or advanced systems development, technology maturation, and/or capture environments.Demonstrated behavior as a driver for change and continuous improvement.Exposure working across related organizations with non-aligned charters or across cross-functional teams.Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
