The Manager, Payroll is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of the payroll department including serving as the first escalation point for clients, payroll specialists, payroll support positions, and other internal departments. In this role you are responsible for ensuring the processing and delivery of client's payroll is accurate and timely, managing Payroll Specialists on a day-to-day basis to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, and assisting the Payroll Support team with inquiries, client issues, requests, and training questions.
\n The Role. . .Effectively resolve escalations and queries from team members and other internal departments using an analytical approach based on facts and metrics.Demonstrate drive and adaptability including the ability to adapt to a fast paced, high-volume environment.Build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally with clients, vendors, and employees of all levels within the organization by using excellent communications skills.Highlight and escalate to Payroll Director matters which may affect department processes and needs including recommendations for improvement.Respond to direct client queries and take appropriate action as outlined in SLA contracts.Ensure payroll specialists adhere to all processing procedures and company policies.Maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and local Payroll and Benefits legislation.Assist with ensuring department coverage including planned and unplanned absences.Support and promote the company culture and department wellbeing by exhibiting professionalism, approachability, leading by example and fairness.Serve as first level technical support for payroll software, electronic onboarding, and timekeeping systems.Recruit, hire, train and coach team members with the technical and interpersonal skills needed to provide a great client experience.Perform annual and periodic evaluations for assigned team members based on OAK performance management model and employee development.Monitor and order payroll department supplies, delivery, and machinery needs. The Ideal Candidate. . .2 plus years' experience managing others.5 plus years' experience in Payroll Services or related fieldExperience working in a PEO environment.Demonstrated ability implementing scalable processes.Prism knowledge a plusBachelor's degree in business administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience if requisite skills are demonstrated.Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air. Lift up to 25 pounds.
