Department Overview Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E's successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.
Position Summary Serve as Asset Family leadership for Civil Infrastructure and Dams Asset Families. Acts as technical engineering conscious for all assets within the Civil Infrastructure and Dam Asset Families to ensure their safe and cost-effective operation. Develop asset strategies, risk mitigation strategies, investment strategies and maintenance strategies to ensure the risks, performance and costs of operating these assets are balanced for the duration of their lifecycles. Develops project objectives and scopes and leads the technical decision making within the long-term planning process for these assets.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $163,000
Bay Area Maximum: $277,000
California Minimum: $155,000
California Maximum: $263,000
Job Responsibilities Responsible for the management, leadership, and administrative direction of project engineering Asset Management Engineering within Power Generation.Provides leadership and expertise for business and technical engineering services including engineering studies, inspections, technical specifications, guidance for maintenance and design requirements, asset strategies, and management of consulting services.Provides guidance for project objectives, scope and engineering alternatives studies.Promotes and fosters safety and risk management for all engineering part of the business including projects, execution, O&M practices, tools, policies, and procedures.Responsible for management of team's project program management for smaller projects as well as management of engineering consultants.Attends and participates in industry conferences and events.Participates in broader PG&E initiatives and committees.Manages, leads, coaches, mentors, and develops a departmental staff.Qualifications Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experienceJob-related experience, 8 yearsPE-Professional Engineer licenseAbility to travel up to 40 percent of working timeDesired: Master of Business Administration (MBA) degreeMaster's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplineCertified Construction Manager (CCM) or other related certifications from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)Trained in Facilitative Leadership and Crucial ConversationsCertification in Lean Six Sigma (LSS)Experience in engineering project management, safety, and systems Asset Management, Risk Management and Safety Management.Experience in engineering, project management, safety, and project execution.Experience in engineering project quality assurance/controlSupervisory and management experience
