JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing and managing the Workers' Compensation program in compliance with state and federal laws and minimizing financial exposure through effective claims management and mitigation efforts. Responsible for the transitional duty program, worker compensation training, claim cost containment, coordination with Comcast Risk Management, the Third-Party Administrator, outside defense counsel, UO Environmental Health & Safety, UO Human Resources, UO Health Services, and UO department leaders.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the daily activities of the Workers' Compensation team and works with their Supervisor in developing strategy and direction for the Workers' Compensation team to include setting goals and objectives for the program; reviewing, updating, and maintaining policies and procedures; overseeing staffing and resource management; and reviewing, analyzing, and addressing trends proactively to manage the cost of claims.
Administers and manages the UO Transitional Duty program to include job identification and assignment, department and employee liaison, job rotation, meetings, pay/time adjustments, and permanent assignment as necessary.
Assists in the oversight and management of complex and litigated Workers' Compensation claims
Communicates regularly and maintains relationships with Comcast Risk Management, the Third-Party Administrator, medical providers, outside counsel, and internal partners.
Works with supervisor to analyze and present reports and findings to internal partners regularly to identify trends and develop action plans to proactively address risk that affect team members.
Assists Environmental Health & Safety staff with OSHA logs, accident investigations and required state reporting in database as necessary.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree is required in Business Management, Risk Management, Health Care Admin, HR, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of Workers' Compensation management experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience should include litigated and complex claim management; or equivalent combination of education and experience
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
ARM, CRM, and/or licensed adjuster preferred.
Ability to work with clients and business partners at multiple locations.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
