\n You will work on:Designing molds and tools for customer parts with great documentation.Ply / kit generation from customer designs as well as projector data/programming.Generate and provide DFM feedback to the customers.Co-development with software engineers to develop tools to aide in all of the above. Check the output of those software tools and provide articulate feedback to the team. Customers production "cost down" and DFM efforts to help us scale and meet their needs as their quantities grow, owning their success.Be hands on with production to understand their issues and bottlenecks, find ways to make their job easier in scalable ways. You must spend some of your time "living the pain" of your design choices so that you can grow and improve, and thus we as a company improve.Developing and implementing training materials for technicians. Budgeting, planning for, and commissioning of new equipment. Help in developing and implementing training programs for new equipment.Developing new manufacturing methods as the company grows its capabilities. Required:Be awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with!Be a very strong engineer with a proven track record of exceptional ability driven by engineering fundamentalsDrive projects single handedly without much guidance or inputHave experience in startups or small teams in fast-paced and quickly changing environmentsHave 2+ years experience in the manufacturing of composites parts from prepreg materials, with strong knowledge of relevant materials and methods. Be well versed in how to design successful manufacturing methods for such parts (including how to split tooling, use of intensifiers/caul plates, adhesive films, core splice, hard points, ply drops, debulk strategy, etc)Be able to single handedly design multi-piece molds and complex tooling.Have experience working with scanned data to perform geometric QC analysis.Be proficient in a professional CAD suite (NX, SolidWorks, Catia, etc.) and be comfortable making professional drawings for manufacture. Preferred:Have proficient understanding of designing for machining, and 3D printing.Have experience in other composites manufacturing methods like vacuum infusion (VARTM), compression molding, trapped rubber molding, and/or wet-layup.Have some level of coding/software knowledge (C++, Python, Matlab, VBA, Arduino, etc).
\n$90,000 - $160,000 a year
\nActual base salary will be based on several factors including but not limited to candidates relevant education, experience, knowledge and skill in the core subject matter of the position as well as relevant peripheral qualifications.
