This position will organize and deploy resources to support operational process success and growth initiatives in support of daily production, maintenance, safety, quality, and new product development. Oversee the activities of the Manufacturing Engineering Department to support the company goals, by ensuring that key areas of responsibility and resources are properly aligned. Work with others to maintain capital and department budgets. Supports daily manufacturing operations and quality. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Perform electrical/mechanical testing and analyze test data to determine if designs, components, and processes meet functional and performance specifications. Promote ISO 9001 compliance by creating/updating procedures, ensuring adherence to procedures, publishing trend charts and metrics, assisting in audits, and maintaining records. Utilize drawing software to design and oversee manufacturing of equipment. Organize, oversee, and complete larger projects involving multiple departments or facilities. Estimating, documenting, and tracking the progress of projects. Bachelor of Science from a four-year college or university and five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and engineering experience in heavy manufacturing, including successfully managing large projects or departments.
