JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Acoustic Data Analyst/Field Technician to join our team for a project with the BLM Gunnison Field Office. This role involves both the analysis of acoustic data using Kaleidoscope software to determine the presence or absence of owl species and the deployment and retrieval of acoustic recording units in the North Powderhorn area. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork and detailed data analysis.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
Develop and apply Kaleidoscope classifiers for species detection. Perform automated and manual vetting of acoustic data to ensure accuracy in species identification. Deploy and manage acoustic recording units in the field, ensuring optimal data collection. Collaborate with project biologists to provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis. SCHEDULE OF WORK
This is a full-time position, with the expected duration of work from June 2024 to November 2024. Fieldwork may require travel and overnight stays in remote locations within the project area. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
Fieldwork will be conducted in the North Powderhorn Wilderness Area, Colorado. Data analysis may be performed remotely or at designated facilities as required. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
Contract duration: June 2024 to November 2024. QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced proficiency in Kaleidoscope software for acoustic data analysis. Experience in deploying and retrieving field equipment, preferably in wildlife monitoring projects. Ability to work independently in remote and rugged conditions. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field preferred.
