Responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL DO Exercising independent judgment and discretion, analyze, plan, manage and execute the safe and efficient discharge/load of customer vessels.Analyze specific vessel layouts, cargo mix (vehicle, high & heavy, other), vessel turn-around timelines, required/available ILA labor, and accessibility of appropriate staging areas to develop detailed and actionable discharge/load plans.Communicate relevant portions of vessel discharge/load plans to and direct/supervise appropriate third parties, including vessel crews, vessel planners, voyage management, terminal agents and/or personnel, and ILA foreman to execute plans and ensure proper cargo is discharged/loaded safely and damage free.Recognize and adjust to changing conditions, priorities, and/or resources; direct appropriate stakeholders to make necessary adjustments to accomplish discharge/load plans.Determine and manage appropriate equipment forecasts and inventories to ensure necessary resources are available to achieve discharge/load plans.Arrange for appropriate maintenance of stevedore equipment (along with company mechanic) to ensure required equipment is in safe working order and available to achieve discharge/load plans.Identify on-vessel vehicle and high & heavy equipment malfunctions. Direct and supervise company mechanic and ILA foremen to resolve.Coordinate with stakeholders, and take appropriate measures to prevent/reduce negative operational and business impacts from equipment malfunction reoccurrence.Act as a liaison and operating interface with third parties, internal and external customers, including vessel carriers, terminal and port stakeholders, Federal Customs Agents, WW Solutions and ILA.Lead and champion assigned KPI in collaboration with other team members to assure KPI targets are met or exceeded. KPIs include Safety, Quality, Cost & Productivity, Service Delivery, and Environmental.Ensure cargo handling is in accordance with customer guidelines and policies.Identify issues and/or discrepancies; direct and/or coordinate with leadership, customs agents, or other stakeholders to resolve.Communicate and direct Vessels, Vessel Planners, Voyage Management, and Customer Port Operations to optimize performance and meet service requirements.Maintain focus on efficient processes and continuous operational improvement.Meet all customer requirements relating to reporting and distribution of information before, during and after vessel operations.Assure all customer/operations reporting is complete and communicated before, during and after vessel operations. Qualifications WHAT YOU'LL NEED Thorough knowledge of vessel stevedoring operations.Ability to forge and maintain professional relationships.Demonstrated work ethic and proven ability to execute safe and efficient operations.Good interpersonal skills and desire to work with people in a multi-cultural environment.Working knowledge of the ILA CBAs.Working knowledge of MS Office Workplace software.Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of vessel and terminal operations including but not limited to labor contracts, safety regulations and environmental compliance.Focus on leadership and use of talent to improve the way we work and produce value.ABOUT US Wallenius Wilhelmsen is an iconic shipping and logistics company with premium end-to-end supply chain management.
