The Market Conduct Analyst performs technical and analytical work in support of the Insurance Division's Market Regulation Section. The Market Regulation Section uses market surveillance, data analysis, investigations, and examinations to assess the insurance marketplace as a whole, and to ensure that the individual companies and producers that make up the market, are complying with Vermont's insurance laws and regulations.
The role of the Market Conduct Analyst is to surveil the insurance market generally and to perform an in-depth analysis of an individual company when an issue is identified. Interaction occurs on a regular basis with insurance industry compliance officers, the Insurance Division's Consumer Service Section and insurance regulators in other states. The position is supervised by the Director of Market Regulation and work is performed under the general direction and guidance of the Market Regulation Section's two senior examiners.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree AND one (1) or more years of insurance compliance experience with an insurer or insurance rating bureau, or comparable experience with a governmental insurance department or other regulatory agency.
OR
Associate's degree AND two (2) or more years of insurance compliance experience with an insurer or insurance rating bureau, or comparable experience with a governmental insurance department or other regulatory agency.
OR
J.D. degree (or successful completion of the four-year law office study program in Vermont).
Special RequirementsNo formal licensure or certification is required at hiring, but the successful applicant will be expected to acquire relevant professional designations (such as the NAIC-sponsored Associate Professional Insurance Regulator) after an appropriate amount of time on the job.
