Role Overview:
As a Communications Manager, you will be a vital part of our team, reporting directly to the Director of Communications. Collaborating closely with various stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations and internal teams, you will play a key role in crafting and executing strategic communication initiatives that align with our organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications Planning and Messaging:
Develop comprehensive communications plans for our unique programs and partnerships.
Craft compelling communication materials such as press releases, fact sheets, and messaging documents.
Enhance the communications capabilities of program staff through workshops and resources.
Surfacing Impactful Stories:
Collaborate with colleagues to develop compelling storytelling efforts showcasing the impact of our initiatives.
Lead project-based teams to effectively communicate institutional stories to target audiences.
Managing Outside Vendors:
Oversee the selection and management of communications consultants, ensuring successful partnerships.
Facilitate productive collaborations between external communications firms and program teams.
Ongoing Counsel and Support:
Serve as the strategic communications lead for key program areas, providing valuable advice on communication strategies.
Offer support for media engagements and crisis management, when necessary.
Cultivate strong relationships internally and externally to advance organizational goals.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of experience in communications or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong understanding of strategic communications and media landscape.
Experience in areas relevant to our mission and grant-making activities.
Desirable Skills:
Proficiency in project management, including handling multiple stakeholders and project teams.
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communications strategies for social change initiatives.
Knowledge of digital communication platforms and various media outlets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical mindset and strong research abilities.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
