The Content Producer will also be responsible for the collection and analysis of tourism research collected from TTRA, Brand USA, US Travel, and other research vendors. LOCATION & SCHEDULE: Full time, Exempt This position currently involves a hybrid working model with 2 days remote, and 3 days in-office in Detroit, MI. WHAT WE REQUIRE: Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, Professional Writing or related field from an accredited college or university. 2-4 years social media content writing experience. 2-4 years knowledge of interactive marketing and/or e-commerce. 2-4 years' experience in interactive techniques: chat marketing, search engine marketing and optimization, podcasting, and blogging. Demonstrates strong writing skills (portfolio or sample submission required). Successfully demonstrates practical experience with application and implementation of AP style. Proficiency in content marketing and project management platforms such as WordPress, Canva, Asana and Active Collab. Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license. PREFERRED: 3+ years social media content writing experience. 3+ years knowledge of interactive marketing and/or e-commerce. 3+ years' experience in interactive techniques: chat marketing, search engine marketing and optimization, podcasting, and blogging. Agency experience Familiarity with the hospitality industry, the Detroit metro area tourism attractions and/or the field of publishing or publication sales. HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE: Manages the content production process, including selecting content themes, assigning freelancers/agencies, editing content and publishing content to the Visit Detroit website while maintaining the content production budget. Writes content and copywrites as needed. Participates in strategy sessions, generating ideas to accomplish Visit Detroit's objectives. Provides content marketing support and perspective on interdepartmental projects. Provides social media support when needed. OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS: Handle a variety of special projects for the Senior Director, Marketing. Assist with the execution and onsite support at major Visit Detroit meetings and events Collaborate consistently with Social Media team to ensure that messaging and branding are aligned, and content is properly promoted. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES: Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills. Understand content marketing best practices. Knowledgeable about social networking platforms and video communications Basic knowledge of SEO best practices. Ability to respond effectively to quickly changing priorities and responsibilities. Flexible, people-oriented, detailed person who can work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Working knowledge of metro Detroit attractions, restaurants, events, hotel, and meeting facilities. Organized, self-motivated, team player, proactive and flexible. Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly express thoughts, ideas, and concepts, verbally and in writing, in the English language. Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and analyzing multiple assignments simultaneously. Ability to think and manage creatively in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Maintains a positive and professional work attitude, appearance, and behavior even in the most demanding situation. Ability to work effectively in both remote and in-person work environment; proficient using video conferencing software and other remote work tools. Proficient in using personal computer software and applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Available weekends and outside of normal work hours for assignments and travel, as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Office work involves extended periods of sitting or working at a desk, utilizing repetitive typing motions on a computer or laptop, and reading text on a video display monitor. Ability to perform extensive standing and/or walking for work-related assignments and events. Ability to lift push, and or carry up to 25lbs. occasionally.
