ORGANIZATION SUMMARY: World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Marketing Intern will play a key role in expanding World Relief Upstate SC's online presence and improving the organization's digital communication systems. This role focuses on social media management, email marketing, and organizing digital assets to strengthen our ability to share impactful stories, engage supporters, and further the mission of serving refugees and immigrants.
Start date is mid January. Approximately 15-20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. This is an unpaid internship; university credit may be available with prior approval.
\n RESPONSIBILITIESInternal Branding Support & Resource Development Use World Relief's existing brand guide as a foundation to develop supplemental brand guides and one-pagers tailored to office-specific needs, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all communications. Review and refine existing templates, and create new branded templates as needed, including flyers, PowerPoint slides and other communication tools. Conduct check-ins with each department to gather input on branding and communication resource needs, ensuring every team has the tools they require. Maintain and organize a shared repository of templates and branding resources for staff to access easily. Social Media Management Plan, draft, and schedule weekly content for social media platforms to engage and grow our audiences. Tailor content to fit the unique tone and needs of each platform. Monitor engagement across platforms and compile performance metrics to refine strategies. Coordinate monthly email newsletters to share stories, updates, upcoming events, and social media highlights with our supporters. Content Ideation & Creation Brainstorm fresh ideas for engaging campaigns, social media posts, and email topics. Create visually appealing graphics using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to support campaigns. Research nonprofit marketing trends to incorporate new ideas and strategies. Additional Tasks Assist in conducting interviews with clients, volunteers, and staff to gather quotes, stories, and photo releases. Participate in weekly team check-ins to discuss progress and priorities. Provide administrative support and complete other tasks as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTSCommitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with social media platforms and content management tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite). Organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with email platforms like Hubspot is a plus. Interest in or experience with cross-cultural communication and sensitivity. Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
