Surveyor Marine Equipment & Components Area Milan – North Italy – (home based) Role Summary: In this varied role you will work closely with our clients and provide expert advice. A European Driving License is a must.Main Responsibilities: Assess the design/production/in-service aspects of engineering assets, using procedures, experience, and knowledge appropriate for routine situations.Be involved in direct surveys of mechanical or electrical parts and components for use in a maritime or industry environment at manufacturer's works, periodical or initial inspections of manufacturer's works.Contribute to the Type Approval Process with basic quality assessments.Present deliverables to internal/external clients and propose solutions as needed.Comply with applicable Codes and Standards: LR Rules and Regulations, Specifications and Procedures, IACS Unified Requirements, EN/ISO/IEC Standards, or other applicable codes.Identify additional business opportunities.The working area is mainly Northern Italy.Required Qualifications: Degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer.Preferably a minimum of three years (3) of working experience in a relevant role.Sound engineering and manufacturing knowledge.Ability and willingness to enhance your engineering knowledge in a wide range of technology.Proficiency in the Italian and English language commensurate with the work.Knowledge of Vessel Installations including, but not limited to, Main Propulsion Equipment and Components (Oil and Gas Engines, Gearing, Diesel-Electric Systems including required Control Systems, Pressure Equipment, Engine Auxiliary Systems and Components) is an advantage.Knowledge of Materials, including, but not limited to, steel grades, castings, forgings, and non-metallic materials, etc.Ability and willingness to further develop knowledge for electrical inspections, NDE, or welding techniques.Ability and willingness to discuss technical and commercial issues internally and externally from workshop level up to top management.Excellent command (written and oral) in English and Italian using relevant professional terminology.European Driving License.Ability and willingness to travel mainly within the area above and on a case-by-case basis within Southern Italy and Southern Europe in general.Preferred but not required: Previous experience within the Marine & Offshore field is highly preferred.You are someone who: Is passionate about solving tough technical problems and recommending improvements to services.Has patience and is good at listening to issues, identifying their root cause, and providing the most effective solution.Is keen to take accountability and ownership for delivering customer needs.Is able to self-manage and prioritize tasks towards achieving goals.Is flexible and eager to take initiatives.Communicates in a structured way and has the ability to present technical ideas simply.Has perseverance in the face of obstacles.Displays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with colleagues in person and around the world.Responds positively to learning opportunities and is comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone.
