Position Summary
Aggregate Mineral Resource Group, LLC is seeking skilled Material Handlers to support the operational needs of our Desert Center facility.
The Material Handlers will be responsible for efficiently moving, loading, and unloading materials across the plant site, ensuring that feed materials, processed products, and waste materials are properly shuttled using loaders, trucks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
These roles are critical to maintaining smooth plant operations and production schedules by ensuring that all materials are where they need to be, on time and safely.
The ideal candidates will have experience in operating heavy equipment such as loaders and forklifts, along with a strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities Material Handling and Equipment Operation: Shuttle Materials Between Plant Locations: Safely operate loaders, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment to transport feed materials, processed products, and waste across the plant site.
Ensure timely and accurate material handling to meet production demands.
Loading and Unloading Materials: Load and unload raw materials and finished products into designated areas or vehicles, using the appropriate material handling equipment.
Maintain Feed Material Levels: Monitor feed material levels in hoppers and other plant systems, ensuring that an adequate supply is maintained to meet production goals.
Move Heavy Equipment and Tools: Assist with the movement of heavy machinery and tools as needed to support plant operations and maintenance teams.
Equipment Maintenance and Care: Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on loaders, trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
Report any malfunctions or mechanical issues to supervisors for repairs.
Ensure Safe Operation of Machinery: Follow all safety protocols related to equipment operation, including the use of seat belts, safety gear, and proper lifting techniques.
Fueling and Lubricating Equipment: Regularly fuel and lubricate machinery as part of daily operations to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all OSHA, MSHA, and company-specific safety regulations.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots at all times.
Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform safety checks on equipment before use and report any hazards or issues to the safety team or supervisors.
Ensure Proper Material Handling: Safely secure all materials during transport to prevent accidents, spills, or damage to equipment.
Collaboration and Communication: Work with Plant and Production Teams: Collaborate with production supervisors and other plant personnel to ensure that material movements align with production schedules.
Communicate Equipment and Material Needs: Report any equipment issues, material shortages, or delays to supervisors and team members to avoid production disruptions.
Follow Directions from Supervisors: Execute tasks and operations as directed by supervisors and managers, ensuring efficient and effective material handling practices.
Requirements
Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
•Equipment Operation Skills: Experience operating loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment is essential.
Knowledge of safe equipment operation practices and the ability to move large, heavy materials efficiently and safely.
•Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately follow work orders, track material movements, and monitor material supply levels to meet production needs.
•Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to following safety procedures and ensuring a safe work environment.
Must be familiar with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
•Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other team members.
•Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor and operate heavy equipment for extended periods in outdoor environments with exposure to dust, heat, and cold.
•Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in material handling, preferably in industrial, mining, or aggregate production environments.
•Education and Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Forklift certification is highly preferred.
MSHA Part 48 (Surface New Miner training) also highly preferred.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
•Physical Activity: Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and operate material handling equipment.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
•Work Environment: Work in industrial settings with exposure to heavy machinery, loud noises, dust, and extreme temperatures.
Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
•Safety Gear: Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
•Shift Flexibility: Must be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support 24/7 facility operations.
Schedule
Hiring two individuals for one 12 hour day shift.
Compensation
The Material Handler position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $22.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
In addition to base pay, Aggregate Mineral Resource Group, LLC provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan with employer matching, generous paid time off, and life insurance coverage.
