Job Description Materials Test Engineer Cypress, CA As a Materials Test Engineer, you will resolve problems, analyze factual information from multiple sources, and identify effective solutions. You will be responsible for defined technical packages of working, be the point of contact within Materials Engineering, and actively promote, encourage, and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities: Applying strong technical and functional knowledge of standardized and specialized thermo-mechanical test methods for ceramic composite material systems and their environmental and mechanical behavior and performance.Setting-up, conducting, and documenting material testing activities that comply with the quality level of data generated.Working with an integrated product team of design, materials, and manufacturing engineers.Executing material testing plans, coordinating suppliers, developing, writing, and maintaining specifications, and identifying structure-property relationships.Directing daily work of test technicians.Expanding and maintaining a growing database of test results in a highly organized manner.Actively promoting, encouraging, and supporting the identification and implementation of continuous improvement both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompting action across the wider team.Basic Qualifications: Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of experience, ORBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of experience, ORMaster's or PhD, OR6 years of experience in lieu of degree.Technical experience relevant to the Engineering discipline.An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.Knowledge and experience of product integrity/liability and certification frameworks.Membership in a relevant professional body appropriate to the region. In the UK - attained/working towards Chartered status is preferred.To be considered for this role, you must be a US citizen.Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience with thermo-mechanical test methods and equipment.Good written and oral communication skills in English.Strong knowledge of data acquisition systems and database management.Ability to critically reduce and analyze test data and summarize in concise form.Background in ceramic matrix composites or metal/polymer matrix composites in aerospace or related technical field.Experience in identifying structure to property relationships.Six sigma and/or LEAN knowledge.Ability to identify and develop new suppliers.ISO9001 / AS9100 experience.Ability to travel up to 20%.Relocation assistance is available.
Pay Range: $106,001 - $159,002 Annually
